If you are someone who is stuck in the middle of IGCSE; thinking that whatever concept you study is complex enough to grasp, then this blog is for you. Don't worry, I was in your shoes a few months back as I could not comprehend all those IGCSE formulae, chemical reactions, equations, laws, etc.
I too felt frustrated by reading tons of pages in the books, and by the time any chapter finishes, I'd still be kinda BLANK! In this blog, I will tell you about some of the clever resources, which I used throughout my IGCSE and they indeed helped me score A-stars easily. I'm sure you don't want to miss these resources to solidify your concepts.
Disclaimer: This post is not sponsored. It is just based on my advice for my fellow IGCSE students. Only one IGCSE student could understand the struggle of other IGCSE students. Let's make this journey easy!
Notes
During the initial months of my IGCSE, I would study the entire chapter from the book. This is something not bad. However, I started making notes from the book side by side, even after the lecture. As a result, my 75% percent of time and energy would be spent on just making notes, arranging, highlighting, and using different colors of pens to color-code them.
I only had, like, 25% of the time to memorize these concepts with less energy remaining. You know, performing this activity would keep you BUSY, not PRODUCTIVE. Believe me, this was nothing but a sheer waste of time, which I realized in my last year of IGCSE.
Out there, there are already lots of well-written, updated, and sequentially arranged notes of IGCSE, both free and paid. I spent a few pounds and bought comprehensive notes from savemyexams.
For free notes, use physicsandmathstutor. I'd then only take notes of my teacher's lectures, and use those purchased notes for in-depth studying with simpler wordings, unlike using books to waste energy writing down irrelevant information, which no longer comes in the exams! This gave me more time to learn, understand and practice information instead of beautifying it.
Don't be down in the dumps, I'll let you guys download these paid savemyexams pdf notes for free from this link, just to express my gratitude. It includes IGCSE Physics, Chemistry, Biology
YouTube Channels
I would not be able to score A-stars in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, & Maths if I did not have help from these Youtube channels. YouTube is the ocean, full of endless water, and searching the right Youtube channel is like extracting pearls from the middle of an ocean! So, I've gathered legit Youtube channels and you might want to have a look at them.
Cambridge in 5 Minutes: If you are studying IGCSE Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and you need to strengthen concepts according to the requirement of the syllabus, this channel is for you.
The GCSE Maths Tutor: This channel is for maths strugglers. You will not only learn the equations but also practice with the given past paper examples.
Science with Hazel: If you have finished your syllabus, and want to skim through the entire content, use the "All-in-one" playlist of this channel. Hazel has made complied videos of each science subject.
D Maths Academy: Mr. Dixon is indeed a true gem and a life-saver. He solves the past papers of IGCSE maths. You can learn or tally your answers using his videos. He has ange of past paper-solving videos from 2010 up to the latest years.
Practice:
No matter how hard or smart you study, you aren't prepared until you haven't practiced. Yes, past paper practice is key to mastering your concepts. Cambridge or Edexcel don't test whether you are a scholarly person who you watched Neil De Grasse Tyson's podcast before writing your exam. No! They ONLY test you based on the set of SKILLS they require you to attain according to your syllabus and past paper practice tells you WHAT and HOW you should be able to ANSWER.
Physicsandmathstutor: Use this website to solve topical past papers. It's free to use. After studying a topic, use this website to test yourself on how to apply the concepts.
IGCSE Papers: Use this website to solve online MCQs of your IGCSE subjects. It has a timer with an automatic checker. You can save and review your progress. Now you don't have to waste time printing, and checking the MCQs paper. Smart work, isn't it?
Papa Cambridge: I'm sure you all are familiar with this website. If not then let me tell you. It has full-length length papers of each year, all variants and all seasons.
Verdict:
I hope that if you consider using these resources, you'd defiantly improve. If you want to know how to score A-stars in IGCSE, check out my other blog using this link where I discussed a key strategy for preparation. Good Luck, mates!
